  • Gives your overall results for the test as a percentage; details of the numbers of questions answered correctly, incorrectly, or omitted; and the average time taken for each question.
  • Provides a more detailed break down of your scores, specific for each Step:
    • Step 1 – by Discipline and Organ System;
    • Step 2 CK – by Specialty, Subspecialty, and Physician Task; and
    • Step 3 – by Clinical Setting, Problem/Disease, Clinical Encounter, Physician Task, and Patient Age.
Review all questions answered, with links to answers, explanations and High-yield Hits. Alternatively, view questions you answered incorrectly by selecting:
  • Incorrect Questions by Disciplines or Incorrect Questions by Organ Systems for Step 1,
  • Incorrect Questions by Specialty or Incorrect Questions by Subspecialty for Step 2 CK, or
  • Incorrect Questions by Clinical Setting or Incorrect Questions by Problem/Disease for Step 3.
Take a few tests and review your cumulative scores in one of four ways.
  1. Previous Tests – view all previously taken tests with summaries of your scores.
  2. Cumulative Results – view your Overall results for each test, or Review a Test question by question. Further analysis and break down of your results are given for each Step:
    • Step 1 – by Discipline and Organ System;
    • Step 2 CK – by Specialty, Subspecialty, and Physician Task; and
    • Step 3 – by Clinical Setting, Problem/Disease, Clinical Encounter, Physician Task, and Patient Age
  3. Compare your results to others gives you a summary of your scores, and a percentile ranking allowing you to compare your performance with other site users.
  4. Plots your scores for each test taken (even if incomplete), against the date taken so you can check your improvement as you progress.

  • Practice case launches the case in the CCS test interface.

  2. Cases by Specialty (lists cases available for each specialty)

  4. Cases by Topic (lists cases available for each topic)
Selecting any Specialty, Setting or Topic will take you to a list of cases under the selected item.

Case Results

Your score is determined by comparing your orders with an optimal set of orders.
  • Examinations, orders, clock advancements, and location changes that you order are used in determining your score.
  • Each order you place is weighted based on the degree of appropriateness and may increase your score by different amounts.
  • Actions that are not indicated or pose a potential risk may decrease your score.
  • Final diagnoses and reasons for consultations are not used in evaluating your performance on the actual USMLE CCS cases and therefore are not scored here.
At the end of the case, you will be given a final score, based on the degree of appropriateness of your actions, which is broken down into the following CCS domains:
  • Diagnosis - Physical examinations, laboratory tests, and imaging studies you ordered.
  • Location - Assigning patients to the proper healthcare setting.
  • Monitoring - Monitoring certain laboratory, imaging or vital sign parameters in cases when appropriate. Some cases do not require monitoring.
  • Sequence - The sequence of indicated actions including when you perform examinations, orders and clock advancements.
  • Therapy - Medications, procedures and counseling orders used.
  • Timing - Follow-up of results, clock advancements and rescheduling of patients.
Information listing your orders alongside the optimal set of orders is available for comparison.
