All these features are pretty nice and it's loading a lot faster than QBank -
“Hoberto”, SDN Test Prep Week – Jan 2008
I've used both this and Kaplan QBank and like this one more - “JDWflash44”, SDN Test Prep Week – Jan 2008

I have heard great things about this program! -

The High-Yield hits are AWESOME! The content is just enough. The whole purpose of taking practice tests is to learn from your mistakes. The High-Yield hits takes into account how valuable your time is and eliminates the need to leave your computer and grab a textbook to get a deeper explanation to the answer choices. GREAT JOB!!! -

I'm gonna really use your q bank. Just took it for a test drive and LOVED it!

I decided to bypass the Kaplan Qbank in favor of the (cheaper) Elsevier prep program, USMLE Steps 123, and I am definitely loving it because if the answer hasn't provided enough insight about why whatever choice was correct/incorrect, then I just click on the 'High-yield Hit' which will link me to a relevant passage in one or several of your books (i.e. Costanzo, Robbins, etc.) for a quick refresher.

Thanks again for the wonderful product. I feel that it had prepared me above and beyond for the exam. I believe that you have a wonderful product that will benefit a lot of medical students in preparation for their boards.

I thoroughly enjoyed the question quality of Elsevier’s USMLE Steps123. I personally thought that the questions were worded in a very clear manner but the main point was clearly conveyed. I have tried the online versions of USMLEasy and Kaplan and I think that USMLE Steps 123 Program is comparable to Kaplan and better than USMLEasy in terms of simplicity, question wording, and ability to navigate the website. I think the answers and rationales are very comparable to other programs … One of the main strengths of USMLE Steps 123 is the high yield helpful hints. The website in my opinion was very interactive and gave a lot of options in terms of additional knowledge. I also enjoyed the fact that I was able to highlight certain areas and that I was also given the options of lab values. In terms of the correct answers I think “just enough” content was give, but I think too much content was given for some of the wrong answers. However, this is my personal opinion…some people may actually need the extra explanations!

I found the answer explanations helpful, and then when combined with the High-yield info, you end up learning a lot more than just the specific answer to the question that was asked.

The question quality compares well with what I've seen from other test preps and the rationales are some of the clearest I've seen. Steps 123 has been indispensible for studying behavioral sciences – I never understood some of the rationales in ruling out some answers before. High-yiled Hits are phenomenal!

I thought USMLE step123 prepared me very well for the Step 1. I really appreciate your help throughout the exam prep process.

Great question quality! I preferred USMLE Steps 123 to Kaplan. I liked the fact that the USMLE Steps 123 gave immediate feedback, in untimed test mode, telling me whether my answer was right or wrong. I really liked the high yield hits. I would have looked up the same info in probably the same books that are used, so it saved me a lot of time having it right there in front of me. I think it is just the right amount of content. Someone who knows the answer will just skim it, someone who needed to refresh the specific material can do it right there. Definitely thumbs up!
2nd year medical student, University of Michigan SOM.

I was thoroughly impressed with the results screens and interactivity of this website…especially since I have been very dissatisfied with USMLEasy. The best bits about the results pages were how it broke down your scores into the various sections. I was able to look at my results screen and see where exactly my weaknesses were. I would know how many questions out of the gastrointestinal section that I answered correctly as well as how much time I spent on that particular section! I also thought that it was great that I was able to compare my results to others and to compare my results over time. This is helpful so you can see your progress…it’s simply encouraging. I think these results screens are better and more thorough than the results screens of other programs.
2nd year medical student, Emory University SOM.
It was great to see that the questions were mainly clinical correlations. They seemed to integrate different subjects instead of focusing on a single one. The rationales were succinct and to the point. I did not have to read through a lot of material to see why I got an answer correct/incorrect. The High-yield Hits were ver helpful and I thought the results screen was designed perfectly. I was able to understand them easily and they had the pertinent information I needed to correct my mistakes. I also liked that I could compare my performance to other students.
2nd year medical student, University of Cincinnati SOM.

I thought the questions in USMLE Steps 123 were great and I thought it was great that the results were reported in multiple ways. I especially liked how the results were reported by organ system, so that I could see which ones I was weaker on, and would know to spend more time in those areas.

Step 2

Great questions. Using them now.
Medical Student, SDN Test Prep Week – Jan 2008
I thought the question quality compared well to other test banks. Format was more similar to the actual test than Kaplan. As for the answers and rationales Steps 123 has the added bonus of the High-yield Hits as references, which Kaplan does not have. I liked these a lot. Steps 123 questions are good learning tools, better than the actual test and the answers and rationales are better focused than other test banks. I think this is an advantage, as the answers and rationals on other test banks are sometimes too long to get through, especially if you’re in a hurry. I liked the High-yield Hits very much: I thought that the content was perfect. Answer rationales provided a quick run-down and the High-yield hits are there for further reference if you need it.
4th year medical student, Harvard Medical School.

The depth and coverage of Step 2 content is just right. For times when I'm in a hurry or when I'm pretty familiar with a topic I'll just skip the High-yield Hit information, but for times when I'm clueless they’re great!
4th year medical student, University of Minnesota SOM.
I took the Step 2 CK exam by before I trialled USMLE Steps 123, and your Step 2 questions are very similar in format and difficulty level of the actual exam. The computer interface is similar as well so it would have been a great prep tool had I used it before the exam. High-yield hits were very good and not too boring in detail level, yet thorough. The result screens are also great - they pick out the areas you are strong in, and the ones you need to work on. I am strongly considering using this for Step 3 prep next year b/c it is a great product. I wish I’d had it in time to rock Step 2!
1st year resident, Indiana University SOM.

For Step 2 I thought the High-yield Hits were great - just enough content. And I like how USMLE Steps 123 divides your results into subject type, I also like how it breaks down into diagnosis, treatment, pathophys- that is different from Kaplan and I like it better!
4th year medical student, University of Cincinnati SOM.
I thought that the overall quality of the Step 2 questions was superb. I thought that this is a great question source. The writers have done a good job of creating clinical vignette-style questions that mirror those of the NBME. I think that the answers are just a detailed as other test banks and the added resource of the High-yield Hits may make Steps 123 superior to the other resources.
4th year medical student, Medical College of Georgia.

Step 3

I signed up and made use of the USMLE Steps 123, Step 3 MCQs. They were very useful and helped me secure a 91/220 on my Step 3 exam. Keep up the good work - 123 ROX!
